Can’t decide between Japanese and Thai food? Ramen Nagi combines the best of both worlds with their limited edition Tom Yummy King ramen.
We love eating Japanese cuisine and we love Thai food, and for a limited time only, Ramen Nagi has combined the fiery heat of Thailand’s famous tom yum with Japanese ramen. Launched on 18 December, there are only 400 bowls available of the mouth-watering Tom Yummy King, a tom yum-infused ramen that consists of Ramen Nagi’s award-winning tonkotsu pork broth, which is spiked with the hot and sour tom yum spices. Prepared by their ramen chef who flew in from Japan just for the launch, this is one fusion dish you don’t want to miss out on.
We were able to customize our bowl by indicating our preferred firmness of noodles and spice levels on the order form, but we decided to leave it to the capable hands of the chef. The chef’s recommendation option gives you Level 1 spice (what Ramen Nagi considers the standard level of spiciness) and standard firmness for your ramen noodles. Choose ‘hard’ for al dente noodles; spice lovers can turn up the heat by opting for spice levels up till Level 10!
The spiked tonkotsu broth was rich and savoury, the piquant tom yum flavour just enough to cut through the creaminess. The two distinct flavours mingle and give rise to a complex flavour that elevates your ramen experience.
Ramen Nagi believes in serving substantial portions – expect to see fresh, succulent prawns and slices of tender pork shoulder perched on top of a generous mound of ramen noodles. Hot chilli oil, fresh coriander and slivers of black fungus add dimension to the ramen broth as well.
Nagi’s Tom Yummy King is indeed an umami flavour bomb bursting with Japanese-Thai flavours. We have no doubt Singaporeans will be queuing in droves for a taste, so be sure to order your bowl of fusion ramen before they run out!
