It’s Asian grub galore this month with Miam Miam. Torimaru from Ramen Champion, and Old Hong Kong Kitchen.
The French- Japanese Miam Miam launches new donburi offerings aside from their popular mainstays of Miam Miam spaghetti, Riz Au curry and French soufflés. Dig in to the Shogayaki pork donburi ($15.90), pork loin meat marinated for 24 hours with shoyu sauce and fresh ginger; seared barramundi fillet ($16.90); and the glazed chicken teriyaki version ($14.90) featuring succulent chicken chunks glazed with Nippon sauce and garnished with wafu tofu, baby radish and cucumbers. Joining the remaining six ramen brands at Ramen Champion is Torimaru by chef Takano Koji. Specialising in tori paitan ramen (creamy chicken soup ramen), the latest ramen fad in Japan, Torimaru’s rich broth is made with chicken and full of collagen. Warm your bellies with their Special Chicken Ramen ($16) that’s served with the stall’s original springy thin ramen noodles, slices of tender chicken breast chashu and homemade chicken meat balls. The Chicken Nanban ($8), which features four succulent pieces of fried chicken doused in a decadent homemade tartar dressing, is a great side dish to round up your meal. Hurry to catch the Beijing Duck with Rainbow Sauce Feast ($128/4 pax set, $228/8pax set) at Old Hong Kong Kitchen, till 30 June only. The traditional Peking duck, with crisp skin and meaty slices, is first served with a tray of seven naturally coloured sauces, including blueberry and mustard. The rest of the duck will be served three ways: in a homey beancurd pot which ’sets’ at your table, stewed duck in three seasonings in claypot, and rice with duck meat in shark’s bone cartilage soup.
