Follow your nose to Golden Mile Tower where you’ll find hungry mookata fans deftly flipping their
meats on a gas-powered brass-domed hotplate near the entrance to the carpark ($25.90 nett, daily
6pm-3am). Opt for best-sellers grilled chicken and grilled pork, and fried-upon-order popcorn
chicken and Thai fish cake. Drinks not included.

Huay Kwang Thai Kitchen
Measure your tot because those below 1m dine for free. You have two hours to get through this buffet (Mon-Thu $25.90+, Fri-Sun, eve of PH & PH $28.90+) which boasts a selection of Thai-style pork collar, Chinese-style pork belly, tom yum chicken thigh, pork lard—yum, seafood and vegetables. Premium items like scallop, oyster and beverages not included, while wastage’s charged at $5/100g.

If you’re in the Telok Kurau area, zip over to Kin Mookata ($25 nett, daily 5-9pm). Meat lovers, you’ll swoon over their garlic pork collar, garlic pork belly, minced pork, pork liver and pork lard. Choose also from seafood, chicken, beef, veg, quail eggs and tung hoon. They score brownie points with us for still using an authentic charcoal mookata, having housemade sauce, and being an awardee of a Fine Culinary Skills certification.

With five branches islandwide, this Thai-owned mookata stall is on a roll ($29 nett, daily 5pm-12am). Go for the succulent tiger king prawns direct from Thailand, teriyaki pork neck, their signature chilli sauce, and sometimes shishamo and green noodles. If you’re craving for a lunchtime fix, head to their air-conditioned Jurong East branch (#01-309, 134 Jurong Gateway Road. Tel: 8247 0444; daily 12pm-11pm).

At night, the industrial park canteen transforms into a bustling mookata hangout ($22 nett, min. two to dine; daily 5pm-12am). If you can’t decide to have sesame chicken, squid or Thai fish cake, you can opt for the “a little of everything” option on the checkbox chit. Add on some watermelon ($2.90) and VIZZ’s unique sauce ($5)—but whatever you do, don’t waste food (charged at $5/100g).
